The two-day event, known as 'International Textile Summit 2011', is being projected as an opportunity for the textile industry in the country to create a single platform for sharing information.
"We did a survey across the country and found that the entire value chain of textile industry didn't have a platform to portray itself. Which is why, we have initiated this event in partnership with Ministry of Textiles in order to bring the entire textile industry in a single place. Since such an event is being conducted for the first time, this year it will be an exercise to build awareness among players," said Abhishek Majumdar, director, Blue Events.
Among other things, the event will see sessions on cluster development, technical textiles, Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS), and ginning to spinning value chain.
Being held for the first time in Ahmedabad, the event is expecting around 500-600 delegates from both within and outside the country.
Talking further about 'International Textile Summit 2011', Majumdar said, "We expect the event to help India showcase its textile power to the world once in a year. We are trying to rope in as many associations in the textile industry as possible for this."
Apart from Ministry of Textiles and iNDEXTb, the textile summit is in talks with the likes of Textile Association of India, South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), and Rajkot Engineering Association, among others for partnership.
